The whole process of creating animation videos consists of the following stages:

  • Technical task. The client, the customer forms the problem that he needs to solve with this video.
  • Creation of ideas and concepts for the video. For example, we need to tell children in a simple way about how to behave on the Internet. In this case, we can offer the client a plot where a little girl sitting at home at a PC is texting with strangers. In the course of the video, we tell how to behave and how not to behave, what is dangerous and what is not.
  • Then, when the concept is approved, we write the script: actions in the frame + the narrator's text.
  • After that, we create characters, layouts with backgrounds (more on that below).
  • If the voice in the video is only offscreen, then you can already record the announcer, if the announcer has to hit the lips of the character, then after the animation.
  • We bring the pictures to life - the animation itself.
  • We select music, sound design, internoises and more.

Animated 2d video is not only characters, as you know the king is played by the retinue, in the case of commercials, the background behind the character plays an important role. Below are different categories of backgrounds, the style of animation is determined by backgrounds - "locations" where the actions and characters take place. Let's talk about the characters below, but now let's look at the main categories of backgrounds. The background sets the right mood in our scene, so it is important to choose what is right for a specific situation in specific circumstances.

The background can solve the following tasks:

  • Set the mood in the scene. For example, a spacious, bright apartment will set a good mood in the frame. And the gloomy basement will alert you.
  • The background can be neutral, such as a clean white background or a white paper background. Such a background allows the viewer to focus on the most important things in the frame, on objects and characters (about them below).
  • Show contrast. If, for example, in the first scene the hero freezes on the street, and in the next he is already warming up by a warm battery.

Characters in 2D animation

The character is the face of the entire video. This is our main character, the one whom the viewer will empathize with and follow closely. Above we described the types of backgrounds, usually the character corresponds to the style of the video. You can also create a video(make a Motion Graphics video) starting with a character, and then design a background for it.

A good character is noticeable, has its own distinctive features, is often selected according to the preferences of the target audience, or even copies a representative of the target audience.
